Cannabis News: Biden Has Announced His Intention To Renominate Dr. Robert Califf As FDA Commissioner
Heading into the weekend, President Biden on Friday announced his intention to renominate Dr. Robert Califf as the new commissioner for the Food and Drug Administration. Califf had previously served as the commissioner of the FDA from February 2016 to January 2017.
Dr. Califf is a Duke graduate and will be replacing Dr. Janet Woodcock. Earlier this year, Dr. Woodcock had come under fire for dodging a simple question surrounding whether or not tobacco was more harmful than cannabis.
Dr. Califf, on the other hand, has prescribed cannabinoid medication and has gone on the record acknowledging that cannabis has therapeutic effects.
Additionally, Dr. Califf has recently worked in 2019 as head of medical strategy for Google’s parent company, Alphabet.
