But as we move toward broader social acceptance, we should explore what we know about this plant. What are the potential medical benefits of cannabinoids (the compounds found in cannabis like CBD and THC) for some illnesses, and what risks do they pose to the developing brain? What are the benefits and challenges of cannabis and industrial hemp for our agricultural community? What is the history of cannabis laws, and why have they disproportionately impacted communities of color?
